Whether your a pro or new to the world of knives, the Arcade is the perfect EDC with endless customization options. Need some help assembling your new inlays or hardware? Check out our step by step guide below.
What you'll need
- An Arcade knife
- A screwdriver with T6 and T8 bits
- A non-slip working surface (recommended)
Disassembly
There are multiple ways to assemble and disassemble knives but we tried to pick a method that would be the most approachable for beginners. Found a different set up which works better for you? No problem, you do you! These are just guidelines meant to help you out while you learn the ropes.
Step 1
Remove your pivot screw, body screws, and inlay on the side which does not have the pocket clip.
Tip
We recommend keeping your parts in the order of where they should be installed. This will keep things organized and prevent screws from getting mixed up when you're putting everything back together!
Step 2
Flip your knife over and remove the body and pocket clip screws along with the other inlay. Your knife should now be held together with just the pivot post and barrel spacers. If you're just swapping out your inlays you can skip to step 9!
Tip
Like our snazzy green Takedown Shop Mat? The silicone surface helps keep those pesky little screws from rolling away and has built in grooves for organizing parts. Get yours here!
Step 3
Flip your knife back over and remove the scale and barrel spacer closest to the lanyard hole.
Step 4
Remove the pivot post. These can be a little tricky to remove sometimes. We recommend using something like the head of a screwdriver to push it through or pulling back on the Shark-Lock™ if it gives you trouble! Keep an eye on the spring within the lock if you pull it back since they are prone to popping out.
Step 5
Once the pivot post has been removed you should be able to fully disassemble the Shark-Lock™ .
Reassembly
Step 6
Insert the pivot post. When putting your pivot back together you'll want to watch out for the keyed edge on the pivot post. A keyed edge is a flat area designed to keep a part in the correct alignment once installed. If you're having trouble inserting your pivot post it's most likely due to this edge.
Step 7
Once your pivot post has been inserted you can add your liners and washers back in. You'll know that your liners have been installed correctly if you see the groove for the washer face up.
Step 8
Add your blade, barrel spacers or backspacer, and reassemble the Shark-Lock™. Arcade barrel spacers also feature a keyed edge you'll want to watch out for otherwise you won't be able to seat them correctly. Pull the lock back when adding the blade if necessary, just be careful with the spring!
Tip
Threadlocker and Oil are an absolute must when it comes to maintaining your knife so it can last you for years to come. You can find both in our Knife Care Kit here.
Step 9
Add the opposite scale and pivot screw. Install the inlay, and body screws. Finish off with your pocket clip and you're good to go! Congrats on successfully assembling your Arcade!
