your Flytanium scales.
Before we begin, please be aware that disassembling your knife can void Benchmade’s
Lifetime Warranty. Proceed at your own risk.
Always use caution when handling live blades. If safety is a concern we recommend
putting masking tape over the edge of the blade for added protection. Flytanium is not
responsible for any injuries or harm which may occur from the use of our products.
What you’ll need

● Your Flytanium scales
● 2 drivers with 2 T6 bits and 1 T10 bit
● Recommended- Flytanium Pivot Tool
Disassembly
There are multiple ways to assemble and disassemble knives but we tried to pick a method that
would be the most approachable for beginners. Found a different set up which works better for
you? No problem, you do you! These are just guidelines meant to help you out while you learn
the ropes. We’ll be showing this installation with our Pivot Tool since we find it makes things
easier.
Step 1
Flip your blade into an open position. Remove your pivot screw and body screws on the
side which does not have the pocket clip.
Tip
We recommend keeping your parts in the order of where they should be installed. This will
keep things organized and prevent screws from getting mixed up when you're putting
everything back together!
Step 2
Flip your knife over and remove the remaining body screws and pocket clip screws. Your
knife should now be held together with just the pivot post and barrel spacers.

Step 3
Remove the pivot post. These can be a little tricky to remove sometimes. We recommend
using our Flytanium Pivot Tool to help keep your pivot assembly together during this
process.
Place the pointed end of the Pivot Tool into the hole of the pivot. You’ll want to align the flat
side of the tool with the flat side of the pivot. Once they’re aligned, hold the body of your
knife in one hand (making sure to cover your liners to keep them in place), then push the
tool through the space for your pivot. Leave the pivot tool inserted.
Step 4
Once the pivot post has been removed you should be able to fully disassemble your knife.
Reassembly
Step 5
Starting with the front scale, add your barrel spacers into the appropriate spaces and secure
your body screws on that side.
Step 6
Place your scales onto the liners and slide the Pivot Tool through the hole for the pivot. Take the
shorter body screw and secure the center portion of your liner.
Step 7
Align your pivot post with the Pivot Tool. You'll want the flat side of the post to match the flat side of the tool. Then you'll want to push the pivot post all the way through your knife. Just like with disassembly, we recommend pulling back on the lock bar slightly to release tension from the pivot during this step.
Step 7
Secure your scales with remaining body screws,
Secure your scales with remaining body screws,
You might notice that your barrel spacers don’t lock into place like they do on your stock scales.
Not to worry, this is normal! Flytanium Bugout/Mini Bugout scales are designed to work with the
slight variations to barrel spacers that Benchmade has used over the years. We recommend using 2 torx drivers to finish tightening your body screws. Insert your drivers in the screws on opposite sides of your barrel spacer, then turn them in opposite directions simultaneously. Repeat for your remaining barrel spacers.
Finish off with your pocket clip screws and you're good to go!
Congrats on successfully assembling your knife!
